Clay Co. Traffic Stop Results In Arrests Of Two People, Including One Wanted For Deportation

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A traffic stop Friday in Clay county resulted in the arrests of two people.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy pulled over a vehicle around 6:30 p.m. Friday having prior knowledge the registered owner of the vehicle didn’t have a valid driver’s license.

After looking at a Midwest Soccer League card, deputies identified the driver as 34-year-old Rolanda Pelico-Guox of Sioux Rapids. The deputy later learned that Pelico-Guox was wanted for deportation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Authorities say the driver, Rolando Gomez, was arrested for not having a valid driver’s license.

Deputies then questioned 28-year-old Reginaldo Pelico-Vicente of Sioux Rapids, who was also in the vehicle, as to who was driving. He told deputies it was Gomez. Pelico-Vicente was detained and both Pelico-Vicente and Gomez were transported to the Clay county jail without incident.

Upon receiving a picture from ICE officials of Pelico-Guox, deputies id’d Gomez as Pelico-Guox.

Pelico-Guox was charged with failure to have a valid driver’s license, no proof of insurance, and interference with official acts. He was booked into the Clay county jail where he’s also being held for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Pelico-Vicente was arrested at the jail and was charged with interference with official acts. He was later released after posting a 300-dollar cash bond.
