Burglary At Emmet County Farmstead Results In Charges Against Three Juveniles

(Estherville)– Three Spirit Lake teens face charges as the result of an investigation into a burglary at an Emmet county farmstead that took place back on April 14th of this year.

Emmet County Sheriff Mike Martens says it happened while the owners were gone. The three juveniles, who’s names weren’t released, are accused of breaking into the residence and removing numerous items, along with some fuel that was taken from a storage tank at the scene.

One of the teens was charged with burglary in the third degree…a class “D” felony and trespassing…a simple misdemeanor.

Another was charged with joint criminal conduct in the commission of burglary in the third degree…a class “D” felony; and trespassing…a simple misdemeanor.

The third juvenile was charged with theft in the fifth degree and trespassing…both simple misdemeanors.

All three juveniles were released to their parents and will appear in juvenile court at a later date.

The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in its investigation by the Spirit Lake Police Department.
