Car Vs. Motorcycle Accident Injures Two People

(Spencer)– A collision involving a car and a motorcycle in Spencer Sunday sent two people to the hospital.

Spencer police say it took place around 4:20 p.m. at the intersection of Grand Avenue and 11th Street Southwest.

Officers say 74-year-old Earl Muilenberg of Milford was westbound on 11th Street Southwest when he went through a red light and broadsided a motorcycle driven by 47-year-old Michael Blair of Spencer was southbound on Grand Avenue.

Blair and a passenger, 33-year-old Tammy Jo Meyeraan of Spirit Lake, were taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.

No injuries were reported to Muilenberg, who was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.

700-dollars in damage was estimated to a 1979 Suzuki motorcycle driven by Blair; a 2000 Chevrolet Impala driven by Muilenberg sustained an estimated 1,500-dollars in damage.
