Milford Council Pushes Back Bond Issue Election For New Fire Station

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– Saying they wanted to clarify some language in a resolution and that more time is needed to inform the public, the Milford city council Monday voted to push back the election on a 3.1 million dollar bond issue for a new fire station.

The election was originally set for August 28th. The resolution adopted by the council Monday sets September 18th as the new date for the election.

City Administrator Brian Reed told the council the revised resolution includes provisions allowing a portion of the money to be used for furnishings and equipment in the new fire station; and that it gives the city the option of entering into a loan agreement instead of going into the bond market if it would so choose due to interest rates.

Under a bond issue with a 20-year payback, Reed estimates that taxes on a home valued at 100-thousand dollars would increase by slightly more than 58 dollars a year.
