More Arrests Made in E’ville Machete Attack

(Estherville)– Two more arrests have been made in connection with an attack last weekend in Estherville that resulted in serious injuries to the victim.

19-year-old Jorge Negrette and 22-year-old Francisco Alvarado both of Estherville have been charged with willful injury. Alvarado was also charged with going armed with intent.

That brings the number of people charged in the incident to four. 22-year-old Alfonso Garcia of Estherville was charged shortly after the incident with attempted murder, willful injury and going armed with intent; and 20-year-old Bruno Zavala, Junior of Estherville was charged with serious assault.

Police say 28-year-old Jose DeJesus Hernandez of Estherville suffered multiple injuries to his head, arms and torso as a result of being attacked with a machete, broom handle and a stick. He has since been released from a Sioux Falls hospital.
