(Milford)– Flooding along the Little Sioux River in western Dickinson county continued this (Wed.) morning, but the National Weather Service says it may soon begin to recede…provided no more rain falls anytime soon.
West of Milford the Little Sioux was measured at 14.4 feet as of this (Wed.) morning. Flood stage there is 12 feet. 190th Avenue between 110th Street and 120th Street was closed Tuesday and officials say 180th Street in that area may be closed as well later today (Wed.) if the river continues to rise.
At Spencer the Little Sioux was estimated at 10.6 feet this (Wed.) morning. Flood stage is 10 feet. The river is expected to crest near 10.9 feet Thursday and is predicted to drop back below flood stage Friday…provided no more rain falls.
Unfortunately, more rain is in the forecast, and heavy rains have already been falling this (Wed.) morning just to the south of us where new flooding has been reported.
