Little Sioux Flooding West Of Milford Sets Record

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– The National Weather Service says this week’s flooding on the Little Sioux River west of Milford set a record…even surpassing 1993.

The river finally crested in that area Thursday afternoon, reaching a stage of nearly 17 feet. That smashes the previous record crest of 15.91 feet set on April 9th, 2006.

The gauge in that location has been in operation since December, 1979.

Flood stage there is 12 feet.

The National Weather Service says the Little Sioux should continue to fall, but it isn’t known when it will drop back below flood stage.

Several gravel roads near the Little Sioux River in western Dickinson county remain closed due to the flooding.
