No Injuries Reported In Weekend House Fire

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– No injuries were reported in a weekend house fire in Estherville.

Estherville Fire Chief Richard Beaver says firefighters were called around 1:30 a.m. Saturday to 714 South 11th Street in Estherville.

Upon arriving, Beaver says firefighters found smoke coming out of the attic vents. Beaver tells KUOO news an entry team found the fire burning in a ceiling just outside a bathroom, and that it had spread to the attic. Beaver says firefighters had to battle the blaze from different ends of the attic and through the roof.

Six people who were in the house at the time got out uninjured.

The Estherville Fire Department was assisted by the Wallingford Fire Department, Estherville Ambulance Service and the Estherville Police Department.

Firefighters were on the scene about three hours.

Beaver says the house is believed to be a total loss.

He says a problem with some electrical wiring was the probable cause.
