(Alpha, Mn.)– Four suspects wanted in connection with a robbery Monday of a southwest Minnesota bank are in custody–two were arrested in Dickinson county; two others in Jackson.
The names of the four suspects aren’t being released pending the filing of formal charges.
They’re wanted in connection with the robbery of the Farmer’s and Merchants State Bank in Alpha. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says it was notified of the robbery about 12:10 p.m. Authorities say two men wearing ski masks entered the bank and made off with an undetermined amount of money. They were seen traveling south out of Alpha on a small dirt bike.
Through interviews with witnesses, authorities determined a dark-colored van was also involved and had been seen in the morning with the dirt bike in Wisconsin Township.
At about 1:00 p.m. the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office that they had two individuals in custody along with the money believed taken in the robbery. The two are currently being held in the Dickinson county jail.
Jackson county authorities were able to determine through additional statements that two additional suspects were possibly involved. They were seen in a light-colored vehicle that was pulled over by deputies in Jackson around 3:30 p.m. Those two were also taken into custody and are being held at the Jackson county jail.
Jackson County Sheriff Roger Hawkinson praises cooperation of bank employees and citizens who came forward with information about the suspects.
He also credited outstanding cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, including the Jackson Police Department, the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Spirit Lake Police Department, Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office, the Minnesota State Patrol and the FBI.
