(Sibley)– A two-vehicle crash today (Wednesay) on Highway 59 three and-a-half miles north of Highway Nine in Osceola county sent two people to the hospital.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says 24-year-old Gary Griese of Melvin was driving a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am southbound when he apparently crossed the center line, colliding head-on with a northbound 1999 Pontiac Montana driven by 29-year-old Leah Manthei of Cherokee.
Griese was taken by ambulance to the Osceola Community Hospital where he was treated for multiple injuries and released. Manthei was transported by ambulance to the Worthington hospital and was later transferred to McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls with multiple injuries.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Minnesota State Patrol, Iowa State Patrol, Nobles County Sheriff’s Office, Sibley Fire and Rescue, Osceola County Ambulance, Bigelow Fire and Rescue and the Worthington Ambulance.
The mishap took place shortly after 9:00 a.m.
