(Hartley)– A single-vehicle crash Friday near Hartley in O’Brien county injured a Hartley teen.
The Iowa State Patrol says 16-year-old Joshua Noble of Hartley was westbound on 310th Street near the intersection with Walnut Avenue when a deer apparently came out of the south ditch. Troopers say Noble swerved to miss the animal. The vehicle left the road…sliding sideways into the ditch where it launched over the intersection…landing on its top.
Rescue crews had to extricate Noble from the vehicle. He was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake with non-incapacitating injuries. There was no word on his condition.
A 1995 Pontiac Noble was driving was totaled.
Noble was cited for failure to maintain control.
The crash took place around 7:30 a.m.
Troopers say the fact Noble was wearing a seatbelt likely saved his life.
