(Spirit Lake)– Charges have been filed against a Spirit Lake woman accused of stealing from the Spirit Lake Wal-Mart store.
Spirit Lake police say 63-year-old Janice Gilbert was arrested and charged with theft in the first degree…a class “C” felony, and ongoing criminal conduct…a class “B” felony.
Authorities say the theft in the first degree charge involves the alleged theft of property exceeding 10-thousand dollars in value. Court documents put the amount of money missing at $33,045.40.
Gilbert was booked into the Dickinson county jail and was released after posting bond.
Police Chief Jeff Hanson says the investigation stems from a complaint officers received Wednesday from the Spirit Lake Wal-Mart store.
Hanson says the investigation is ongoing and additional charges and arrests may be forthcoming.
