(Spencer)– Minor injuries were reported Friday evening in a collision involving a semi and a combine at the intersection of 340th Street and 240th Avenue in Clay county.
The Sheriff’s Office says Gary Toft of Spencer was driving a 2006 John Deere combine when he pulled into the path of a 2000 Freightliner semi driven by Jeremie Kent of Albert City. Authorities say the combine was westbound on 340th Street while the semi was southbound on 240th Avenue. The semi came to rest in the ditch.
Kent sustained minor injuries but declined immediate treatment. No injuries were reported to Toft, who was cited for failure to yield.
Both the combine and semi were totaled.
The crash took place around 6:30 p.m.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Iowa State Patrol, Spencer Police Department and the Dickens Fire Department.
