(Spencer)– An early morning scuffle Monday in Spencer resulted in the arrests of two men from Paullina and minor injuries to one of the suspects.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says it all started around 1:00 a.m. when a deputy heard yelling and loud noises coming from the 500 block of 11th Street Southwest. Upon arriving the deputy located several people next to a car parked east of the Monsanto building. When the deputy pulled up two of the four subjects fled on foot. The deputy caught one of the two; the other came back and gave himself up.
Upon investigating authorities determined the two men that ran were brothers that had gotten into an argument. Both were taken into custody without incident. They’re identified as 23-year-old Mark Babb and 22-year-old Daniel Babb…both of Paullina. They were charged with public intoxication. Daniel Babb was also wanted on a warrant out of Cherokee county for failure to appear.
Authorities say Daniel Babb was taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital where he was treated for a minor leg injury from running into a trailer while he was trying to flee officers. He was released from the hospital and joined his brother in jail.
