PACHS Begins Capital Campaign

November 22, 2014

(Emmetsburg)– A local hospital is mounting a capital campaign in conjunction with a major expansion project it has going on.

John Hand, Foundation Director for the Palo Alto County Healthcare Foundation’s capital campaign, says the money will be used to furnish new patient rooms at Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg. Hand says the 11 million dollar addition will include all private rooms in the facility’s long-term care area; all private patient rooms in the hospital and three new obstetrics rooms.

Hand says the campaign has adopted the phrase “It all comes back to you” as it’s fundraising theme. He says donors will be recognized with a special plaque.

Hand says the foundation’s campaign is part of an overall plan to fund the new construction at Palo Alto County Health System. The project is funded by revenue bonds, cash reserves and community donations. Hand says no taxpayer money is being used.

The Palo Alto County Hospital Auxiliary made the first donation of 20-thousand dollars to the Foundation’s campaign. The foundation has pledged 500-thousand dollars toward the project; and community member Harlan Place has given 100-thousand dollars as a memorial to honor his wife, Dorothy.
