SL Traffic Stop Results In Immigration Arrests

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)—A traffic stop last (Mon.) evening in Spirit Lake resulted in the arrests of two men on immigration violations.

Spirit Lake police officers stopped a vehicle driven by 20-year-old Amelio Lionel Jimenez-Vasques of Guatemala shortly after 7:00 p.m.

Through an investigation officers determined Jimenez-Vasquez, who’s from Guatemala, and a passenger, 26-year-old Nephtali Rios Hernandez of Mexico were illegal aliens.

Both men were taken into custody for immigration violations and were taken to the Dickinson county jail. They’re being detained for deportation by the U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.
