Hwy 18 Construction Zone Collision Results In Possible Injuries

November 22, 2014

(Hartley)– A two-vehicle collision Thursday in a construction zone on Highway 18 at 320th Street in O’Brien county resulted in possible injuries to both drivers.

The Iowa State Patrol says 50-year-old Karen Duncan of Hartley was eastbound and had stopped for a flag person. A second vehicle driven by 93-year-old Albert Groff of Hartley was eastbound when he collided with the rear of the vehicle driven by Duncan.

Duncan was taken by her husband to the Sheldon hospital for treatment of possible injuries. Possible injuries were also reported to Groff, but he apparently didn’t seek immediate treatment.

12-thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 2006 Honda Accord driven by Duncan; a 1994 Oldsmobile driven by Groff sustained an estimated three thousand dollars in damage.

Groff was cited for failure to maintain control.

The crash took place around 4:20 p.m.
