No Injuries Reported In Car Fire

November 22, 2014

(Wallingford)– No injuries were reported in a car fire Sunday two miles east of Wallingford.

Wallingford Fire Chief Jarrod Fischer says firefighters were called to the scene shortly before 1:30 p.m. and found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters had to use foam to put out the fire.

Fischer says the vehicle was northbound on 430th Avenue when the driver and a passenger noticed flames coming from the rear and inside of the vehicle. They managed to get out unharmed.

Fischer says it’s believed a full gas can in the trunk either spilled or leaked and that it may have been ignited by some electronic devices that sparked.

Firefighters were on the scene about an hour.

They were assisted by the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office.
