(Des Moines)– Two lakes area companies are among those that will receive Environmental Excellence Awards later this month.
Polaris Industries of Spirit Lake and Brooks National Golf Club in Okoboji will be honored for their efforts in waste reduction.
Russell and Beth Winterhof of rural Aurelia will be recognized for energy efficiency and use of renewable energy at their farm operation.
The businesses are among 11 from throughout the state that will receive the awards. They’ll be presented June 28th at Honey Creek Resort State Park. The ceremony will be held as part of the Iowa Conservation Education Coalition’s Governor’s Conference on Environmental Education.
The awards are the premiere environmental honors in Iowa, recognizing leadership and innovation in protection of the state’s natural resources.
