Milford Council Discusses Street Lighting, Sidewalk Project

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– Plans to spruce up areas along Highway 71 through Milford are still in the works.

City Administrator Brian Reed says the city council Monday evening reviewed engineering plans to install new 35-foot tall street lights along the highway starting at 230th Street south of Style Craft up to the Highway 86 junction. Reed says there was a concensus among the council to get a cost estimate on extending the lighting to the north city limits at the Taco House Road, or 202nd Street.

The project also includes new sidewalks along both sides of Highway 71 from Dan’s Restaurant up to the Highway 86 junction on the west side of Highway 71, and on the east side of Highway 71 up to 28th Street, then east to connect to the spine trail.

Reed says they’re hoping to hold a bidletting in January or February, with construction getting underway in the spring.
