Dickinson Supervisors Vote To Withhold Payments On Courthouse Project

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Saying they’re fed up with ongoing problems in the first phase of the new courthouse, the Dickinson county board of supervisors Tuesday voted unanimously to withhold one payment to the general contractor and two others to the architect.

Most of the problems have centered around the facility’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. Supervisor Mardi Allen says she was notified several times over the past weekend of malfunctioning equipment. At one point, she says the temperature in a room that houses the county’s 911 computer servers had soared to atleast 84 degrees.

Allen also pointed out ongoing problems with the boiler and condensation from a ventilation system.

The supervisors voted to withhold a payment of nearly 364-thousand dollars to the general contractor and two others totaling nearly 6,500-dollars to the architect.
