Sami Center Dedication Postponed To Spring

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A dedication ceremony for the Sami Bedell Center for the Performing Arts originally scheduled for December 15th is now being pushed back to spring.

The announcement was made at a special meeting of the Spirit Lake school board today (Thursday).

The new date is April 12th, 2008.

Terry Miller, Executive Director of the Sami Center, says the facility will be a showcase for the entire midwest and that he wants to make sure everything is in place so people are truly “wowed” when they walk into it for the first time. He says with a little more time, that will happen.

Miller adds no one is to blame for the situation.

As a result, the Spirit Lake High School Instrumental and Vocal Holiday Concert scheduled for December 15th at the Sami Center will now be held in the high school gym. The Middle School and Elementary School music programs scheduled for December 17th through the 19th will be held in the Middle School Gym.

Miller says the April 12th dedication will still feature a performance by international opera star Simon Estes.
