Palo Alto County Crash Injures Two People

November 22, 2014

(Emmetsburg)– A two-vehicle collision Thursday at the intersection of Highway 18 and 440th Avenue in Palo Alto county sent two people to the hospital.

The Iowa State Patrol says 21-year-old Jill Plagman of Graettinger had pulled away from a stop sign and was attempting to turn east onto Highway 18 from 440th Avenue when she collided with a vehicle driven by 19-year-old David Andrew of Elmore, Minnesota who was westbound on Highway 18.

Plagman and Andrew, along with a passenger in Plagman’s vehicle, 21-year-old Natalie Plagman, were taken by ambulance to the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg with incapacitating injuries.

Eight thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 2003 Chevrolet driven by Plagman; a 1997 Ford pickup driven by Andrew sustained an estimated five thousand dollars in damage.

The mishap took place shortly after 8:00 a.m.

Authorities say it was very foggy at the time.

The State Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, Emmetsburg Police Department and Palo Alto County Rescue.
