(Spirit Lake)– A Spirit Lake High School student has been named a finalist in a competition sponsored by the Iowa State Bar Association.
Scott Maudlin is one of 100 finalists selectged from more than 1,500 students across the state who participated in the association’s “Know Your Constitution” project. They will be honored at a luncheon January 11th, 2008 in Des Moines.
From the finalists, five students and their teachers will be selected by a random drawing to attend an all-expense paid education work session in Washington, D.C. February 17th through the 23rd.
The “Know You Constitution” project is designed to enrich students’ understanding and appreciation of the constitution. Students are required to familiarize themselves with constitution-related issues. A quiz was completed by each student. An essay question accompanied the quiz in case of a tie.
