Clay County Crash Injures Early Man

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A two-vehicle collision Thursday near the intersection of Highway 71 and County Road B63 in Clay county sent one person to the hospital.

The Iowa State Patrol says 24-year-old Brandon Wehde of Early was southbound on Highway 71 when the vehicle he was driving went off onto the shoulder. Authorities say Wehde over-corrected and the vehicle crossed the center line, where it collided with an oncoming vehicle driven by 43-year-old Raymond Kiefer of Osage.

Wehde was taken by ambulance to the Storm Lake hospital with what was described as non-incapacitating injuries. No injuries were reported to Kiefer.

Two thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 1999 Pontiac driven by Kiefer; the vehicle driven by Wehde sustained an estimated 1,500-dollars in damage.

Wehde was cited for failure to have a valid driver’s license and failure to maintain control.

The State Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Webb Fire and Rescue and Webb ambulance.

The mishap took place around 5:45 p.m.
