SL School Board Calls Off Superintendent Search

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake school board is abandoning its search for a new Superintendent.

School Board President Beth Will says they met last week with the district’s consultant in the search, Tryon and Associates, to review a list of finalists for the position. However, prior to actually seeing the list, Will says the board decided NOT to proceed with the interview process, saying some issues have been brought to the board’s attention that need some time to be addressed. As a result, Will says the board is now negotiating with the current interim Superintendent, Doug Latham, to serve through the 2008-2009 school year.

Will declined to say just what the issues are when asked by KUOO news. She said additional details would be forthcoming.

Will said the search had been narrowed to 16 candidates.

She wouldn’t say how much money the district had spent on the search up to this point, adding they’re negotiating that.
