(Spencer)– Seven people face drug charges after being arrested Monday evening in the parking lot of the Spencer Wal-Mart.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says it’s the first phase of arrests in what is an ongoing, multi-agency narcotics investigation.
Authorities say it stems from information they received about a delivery of marijuana that was coming to Spencer from Sioux City.
Officers stopped vehicles driven by 18-year-old Travis Fink of Sioux City and 18-year-old Christoper Cammen of Melvin.
A subsequent search resulted in authorities finding what’s alleged to be a quantity of marijuana. Both Fink and Cammen were taken into custody. Cammen was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver…marijuana; and failure to affix a drug tax stamp. Fink was charged with conspiracy to deliver marijuana.
Four passengers in Fink’s vehicle and one from Cammen’s were placed under arrest. 21-year-old Bobby Choat of Sioux City was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver…marijuana; and failure to affix a drug tax stamp.
Also arrested from Fink’s vehicle were 19-year-old Lindsey Sabatka of McCook Lake, South Dakota; 18-year-old Nicholas Foxhoven of Sioux City and 17-year-old Tara Fox of Sioux City.
18-year-old Orry Ladwig of Hartley, who was in Cammen’s vehicle, was also arrested.
All four were charged with conspiracy to deliver marijuana.
The adults were booked into the Clay county jail; Fox was released to a parent or other responsible adult.
Authorities say the investigation continues and more arrests are expected.
