(Wallingford)– An investigation is underway into the cause of a fire that destroyed an abandoned farm house this (Wednesday) morning in Emmet county.
The Wallingford Fire Department was called to the scene about a mile and-a-half south of Wallingford on 390th Avenue shortly before 6:00 a.m.
Fire Chief Jarrod Fischer says the structure was already pretty much burned to the ground when firefighters arrived. He says they were on the scene about two and-a-half hours.
Fischer says it’s believed the fire may have started around 5:00 a.m.
He says it was discovered by a passerby who called 911.
No injuries were reported.
Wallingford firefighters were assisted on the scene by the Wallingford Emergency Medical Services, Emmet County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Fire Marshall.
