Traffic Stop Results In Charges Against Spencer Man (1)

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A Spencer man faces charges in connection with a traffic stop earlier this week in downtown Spencer.

Spencer police say an officer conducted a traffic stop around 10:30 p.m. Monday on a vehicle driven by 28-year-old Johnny Mendez-Vaquero for an equipment violation.

Upon investigating police learned Mendez-Vaquero had been driving without a valid driver’s license and did not have insurance.

A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up a hatchet hidden beside the driver’s seat next to the console.

Mendez-Vaquero was charged with carrying weapons, no driver’s license and no insurance.
