Palo Alto Co. Mishap Injures Two

November 22, 2014

(Graettinger)– The Iowa State Patrol has released details into a two-vehicle collision Sunday in Palo Alto county that resulted in injuries.

Authorities say it took place around 2:00 p.m. on Highway Four about three miles north of Highway 18.

Authorities say 24-year-old Philip Oviatt of Spencer was southbound when he lost control on some snow and slush. Another southbound vehicle, driven by 21-year-old Jessica Andrews of Spencer, swerved to avoid Oviatt causing her to lose control. Her vehicle then collided with the rear passenger side of the one driven by Oviatt.

Oviatt and Andrews were both transported to the Palo Alto County Hospital–Oviatt was seen for possible injuries while Andrew was treated for non-incapacitating injuries.

Four thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 2000 Mitsubishi driven by Oviatt; a 1998 Mitsubishi driven by Andrew sustained an estimated five thousand dollars in damage.

The State Patrol was assisted by the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office and the Graettinger and Emmetsburg ambulances.
