Dickinson Supervisors Review Proposed FY ’09 Budget

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson county board of supervisors Tuesday put the finishing touches on the county’s proposed budget for the 2009 fiscal year.

It totals slightly more than 6.1 million dollars…up from 5.98 million for the current fiscal year, or roughly 2.4 percent.

The proposed budget includes a reduction in the General Fund tax rate from $2.50 per one thousand dollars of valuation to $2.06. The mental health levy would be reduced slightly from slightly more than 29 cents per thousand currently to 24 cents.

The Rural Services Basic levy would remain the same…at $1.65 per thousand dollars valuation, while the debt service levy would decrease from 70 cents to 59 cents per thousand.

Supervisors say the Rural Services Basic levy stayed the same due to several factors, including an increase in fuel costs in the secondary roads budget and the need to replace three loaders and one motorgrader.

A public hearing on the proposed budget is tentatively set for March 17th.
