Clay County Community Foundation Announces Grant Awards

(Spencer)—20 programs and projects intended to make Clay county an even better place to live have been awarded more than 60-thousand dollars in grants by the Clay County Community Foundation.

The foundation, established in 2005, awarded its second round of grants over the weekend. 34 applications requesting more than 195-thousand dollars were received.

Those awarded grants include Positively Spencer Youth, which received one thousand dollars; 4,291-dollars was awarded to the Spencer Community Theatre; Spencer Area Arts Council/Arts on Grand received 2,700-dollars; the Dickens Public Library received 750-dollars; seven thousand was awarded to the Northwest Iowa Youth Soccer Alliance; Spencer Area Concert Association received two thousand dollars; five thousand dollars was awarded to the Centers Against Abuse and Sexual Assault; and two-thousand dollars was awarded to the Clay County Agricultural Extension District for 4-H Shooting Sports.

Other recipients include the Kirchner-French Memorial Library which received a thousand dollars; 3,500-dollars was awarded to the Royal Youth Recreation Committee; the Parker Historical Society received 1,505-dollars; 2,500-dollars was awarded to the Spencer Park and Recreation Department/Positively Spencer; Big Sioux Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association received five thousand dollars; 2,500-dollars was awarded to the Northwest Aging Association; the Clay County Cemetery Signage project received two thousand dollars; Clay County Citizen’s Awareness Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect received two thousand dollars; Clay County Emergency Management Division of Special Needs received 2,800-dollars; a thousand dollars was awarded to the Spencer Family YMCA; and Sunshine Services, Incorporated received 1,900-dollars.
