(Rodman)– An investigation into financial records of the Rodman Fire Department has resulted in charges against a former officer of the department.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says it stems from an investigation into a report of suspicious activity involving the department’s funds.
Authorities say the initial complaint that sparked the investigation was received back on July 2nd of 2009.
Following an investigation that also involved the Palo Alto County Attorney’s Office, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Iowa State Auditor’s Office, authorities arrested 49-year-old Paul Hunter of Cincinati, Iowa, formerly of Rodman.
Hunter was charged with forgery, falsifying public documents, and felonious misconduct in office. All are class “D” felonies.
Hunter was arrested and was freed after posting bond of 2,225-dollars. He made an initial court appearance through his attorney on Tuesday.
Authorities say the case remains under investigation and that more arrests are possible.
