Teens Face Charges For Allegedly Stealing A Dog

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Charges have been filed against three teens accused of stealing a dog.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says the dog was stolen early last Sunday from an enclosed porch at a residence in Everly.

Upon investigating, deputies arrested 18-year-old Christopher Turner of Spencer, 17-year-old Alexis Schindler of Spencer and 14-year-old Allison Spencer of Everly. All three were charged with burglary in the third degree…a class “D” felony, and theft in the fourth degree…a serious misdemeanor.

Turner was booked into the Clay county jail; Schindler was released to her parents; Spencer was cited in juvenile court and was turned over to juvenile authorities as she was already in their custody.

The three are accused of stealing the dog from the porch of the residence and taking it to Spencer, where it ran away from them. They reported the dog as missing. It was later found by the Spencer Police Department, which was unable to make contact with the suspects. The dog was then taken to the city pound.

The dog has since been re-claimed by its owner.
