SL Council Votes To Sell Excess Equipment

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– For sale by the city of Spirit Lake: some excess heavy duty equipment.

The city is looking to sell the equipment, which includes a couple of excavators, dump trucks and other items, now that it’s out of the construction business.

The city council Tuesday authorized City Administrator Mark Stevens to declare the equipment surplus and to sell it.

The action didn’t come without some discussion, though. After reviewing the list of equipment to be sold, councilman Steve Balm expressed concern the city may be selling something it may need in the future for some smaller projects it will still be doing. The council directed Stevens and Brent Newcum of the city’s Street Department to review the list one more time before advertising the equipment.
