(Spencer)—A new department store is coming to the Southpark Mall in Spencer.
Kathy Anderson, Property Manager for Security National Properties of Eureka, California, which owns the mall, says Peebles will be opening a 14,323 square foot store in late August or early September of this year.
Anderson says the store will occupy the former Dunham’s and Payless locations.
Peebles offers nationally recognized brand name apparel, accessories, cosmetics and footwear to small and midsize towns. They also operate in the South Central states under the name of Stage, Bealls and Palais Royal.
A Stage store was located in the Southpark Mall in the late 1990’s, and Anderson says they expressed an interest in getting back into the northwest Iowa marketing area.
Peebles operates over 700 stores in 35 states.
Anderson says construction on the new store is underway.
