(Spirit Lake)– Some projects that need immediate attention that weren’t included in the current fiscal year’s budget mean the city of Spirit Lake will have to amend its budget.
The city council Tuesday set May 27th as the date for a public hearing on that matter.
The additional spending would cover repairs needed to 17th Street in front of Okoboji GM Toyota; the possible replacement of the north half of the city hall roof which is leaking; and to replace the pavement in atleast a portion of the library parking lot.
The council also adopted a resolution entering into an agreement with the school for a resource officer through the Police Department; and they adopted a resolution modifying positions in the city’s Building Division. The change will result in the creation of a full-time Zoning Building Inspector at a salary of 15-dollars an hour. The part-time Code Enforcement Officer position will be eliminated along with the full-time building inspector position.
The council approved the appointment of Jerry Harbst as its representative on the Safety Committee; and approved a request to temporarily close some streets for the annual MainSail-A-Bration June 7th and to prohibit parking on Hill Avenue between 16th and 18th streets between 6:00 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. July 8th for the annual Bike Ride Around Spirit Lake.
