(Spirit Lake)– An amended petition has been filed in a case that seeks to remove two people from the Spirit Lake school board.
The petition alleges the board held closed meetings to discuss legal matters with no mention of the school district’s attorney being present.
It also alleges minutes of the meetings weren’t published in a timely manner.
The amended petition was filed Thursday in Dickinson County District Court by Peter Hart, an attorney representing the parties bringing the action against board members Beth Will and Ann Goerss.
A hearing on the amended petition hasn’t been scheduled yet.
A judge recently denied a defense motion to dismiss the case, and approved another motion allowing the plaintiffs to file the amended petition.
