Railroad Crossing In Everly To Be Replaced

November 22, 2014

(Everly)– A railroad crossing in Everly is scheduled to be replaced this summer.

The Iowa, Chicago and Eastern Railroad crossing on North Main Street in Everly is one of 30 crossings around the state to be replaced in the upcoming season through the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Grade Crossing Surface Repair Program.

The program covers 60 percent of the repair cost, with the railroad and whoever has jurisdiction over the road, in this case the city of Everly, each paying 20 percent.

Funding for the program comes through the Iowa Road Use Tax Fund and Federal-Aid-Rail-Highway Safety funds.
