Corridor Unveils Art Trail

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation is unveiling its first-ever Corridor Art Trail.

Kathy Evert, President of the Corporation, says the trail opened May 3rd. She says it consists of 21 artistically decorated adirondack chairs on display at various locations in Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson and Emmet counties.

Evert says the chairs were made at The Woodworkers Shop in Estherville. They were distributed March 21st to 21 area artists to turn them into artwork.

A map depicting the locations of the chairs is included in brochures the corridor has published. They are available at the Corridor office at 1900 North Grand Avenue in Spencer; Iowa Welcome Centers; or on-line at www.lakescorridor.com.

The public is urged to vote on their favorite chair by filling out a ballot that’s included with the map brochure.

Evert says the chairs will be on display through September. They’ll be auctioned off September 28th as part of Artoberfest at the Clay County Regional Events Center.

Evert says the Art Trail is intended to help showcase and promote the region.
