SL Council Awards Bid On Water Plant Project

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake city council Tuesday awarded the low bid of slightly more than 3.6 million dollars on the water treatment plant expansion project from the Joseph Company of Austin, Minnesota. The bid was slightly under the engineer’s estimate. The council took the action following a public hearing that drew no comments.

The council approved a site plan for two houses the Lakes Community Land Trust plans to build at 2302 Hill Avenue; approved a proposal from the Howard R. Green company for GIS and GPS mapping of the city’s water and sewer lines for 18-thousand dollars; set May 27th as the date for a public hearing on a proposal by the county to purchase the MainSail building; and they approved the appointment of former Mayor Eric Nielsen to a vacancy on the city’s Industrial Development Committee.

The council also set June 10th as the date for a public hearing on the city’s 2008 street lighting project. It calls for lights to be installed on Center Lake Drive; on 23rd Street between Zenith Avenue and Kiwanis Park; and in the Sunland, Ferguson and Matuska subdivisions.
