Local Manufacturer To Be Featured On National Cable Channel

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)—A local manufacturer will be featured in an upcoming show on a national cable channel.

Polaris Industries’ facility in Spirit Lake will be featured in the June 4th episode of “Factory Made” on the Discovery Channel. The show will air at 9:30 p.m. that evening, central time. The show focuses on products, how they’re made and the people who make them.

A crew of five people from the Discovery Channel was in Spirit Lake last February. They filmed 28 hours of footage in the Polaris facility that employs 550 people. While not all 28 hours will hit the air, Ed Heffernan, Director of operations at Polaris, says what does air will portray what it takes to create a product at the company.

The Polaris facility in Spirit Lake manufactures Victory motorcycles and Ranger utility vehicles.

While the June 4th show will feature Victory motorcycles, Heffernan says an episode at 9:30 p.m. June 18th will feature the utility vehicles.

The Polaris plant in Spirit Lake has been operational since 1994. The first Victory motorcycle rolled off the assembly line in Spirit Lake on July 4th, 1998.
