(Spencer)– Those with interests along the Little Sioux River will want to pay close attention to future forecasts.
The National Weather Service has issues a Flood Warning for the Little Sioux at Spencer and Linn Grove.
The weather service says one to one and-a-half inches of rain fell early this (Thursday) morning in the upper portions of the Little Sioux River basin. That’s already pushed the river to bank full or slightly above in some areas. And forecasters say with another one to two inches of rain possible later today (Thurs.) and tonight (Thurs.) could cause more in the way of flooding.
The National Weather Service says the Little Sioux at Spencer is expected to crest near 11 feet Saturday afternoon. Flood stage in Spencer is seven feet. Minor flooding of Leach Park and some low-lying ag land is likely.
