(Spencer)– Minor injuries were reported to a clerk when a car crashed into the Dyno’s convenience store at 15 Grand Avenue in Spencer Friday.
Spencer police say 43-year-old Robin Barns of Spencer was backing from a parking space on the north edge of the store’s parking lot when she collided with a concrete pole. Barnes told officers she was startled, so she drove forward striking the north side of the store. The vehicle penetrated the wall and went into the interior of the store damaging display cases, counters and merchandise, which fell onto the clerk, identified as 23-year-old Stephanie Mills of Dickens.
Mills complained of back pain and was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle.
Upon investigating, officers determined Barns was intoxicated. She was charged with second offense operating while intoxicated and reckless driving.
A 2001 GMC Yukon Barns was driving sustained an estimated five thousand dollars in damage; 500-dollars in damage was estimated to the concrete post; damage to the building was estimated at 15-thousand dollars.
The crash took place shortly after 8:30 p.m.
