Spencer Streetscape Project Awarded Vision Iowa Funds

(Spencer)– A streetscape project in downtown Spencer has been awarded funding through the state’s Vision Iowa program.

The project was awarded 500-thousand dollars through Vision Iowa’s Community Attraction and Tourism program.

THe project includes the enhancement and restoration of the Grand Avenue boulevards between eighth and 18th Streets and adding art deco elements to the Grand Avenue bridge. The combined project has an estimated cost of slightly more than 2.2 million dollars.

The award is contingent upon the completion of raising local matching funds within 90 days.

The Spencer project was one of six awarded slightly more than 2.2 million dollars in grants.

Others are in Sac county, Garner, Wellsburg, Forest City and Dubuque.
