(Ruthven)—A weekend traffic stop lead to the search of a house in Ruthven and several drug-related arrests.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says it started around 1:00 a.m. Saturday when a deputy made a traffic stop east of Ruthven. The driver was pulled over for a stop sign violation. During the stop, the deputy determined the driver, 34-year-old Jayson Wiley of Emmetsburg, was in possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and booked into jail.
Authorities then obtained and executed a search warrant on a residence at 1102 Scott Street in Ruthven. A quantity of a substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine was seized, along with other items.
Two men at the residence were arrested.
49-year-old Roger Kruse of Ruthven was booked into the Palo Alto county jail for second and subsequent offense of possession of a controlled substance, a class “D” felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
23-year-old Jonathan Sutherland of Ruthven was arrested and booked into jail for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
Authorities say charges may be pending against a third person who was at the location at the time.
They add the investigation is part of ongoing drug investigations by the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office.
Emmetsburg Police and the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit assisted, along with the Emmetsburg Police Reserve, Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Reserve, Iowa State Patrol, Ruthven ambulance, Ruthven Fire Department and paramedics.
