(Estherville)– An Estherville woman says she’s running for State Representative in House District Seven, which includes Emmet and Palo Alto counties and northern Kossuth county.
Debra Satern says she decided to run after taking a recent tour of the district. She says shrinking communities, job losses, and poor roads caught her attention, and she wants to do something about it.
Satern says she also saw some things happen at the state house that weren’t good for small business, and she wants to change that.
Satern and her husband Steven own Satern Custom Manufacturing in Estherville.
Satern feels she would bring a unique perspective to the Iowa Legislature through her experience as a small business owner and entrepreneur.
Satern and her husband have two grown children.
Satern announced her candidacy Tuesday.
