Spencer Police To Make Drug Test Kits Available To Public

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Spencer parents concerned their kids may be taking controlled substances will soon have a new tool available to them.

Spencer Police Chief Mark Lawson says his department will make drug test kits available to parents beginning July 1st at a cost of 10-dollars each.

Lawson says the kits are self-contained and come with instructions. They test for marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, opiates and amphetamine.

Should a positive test be indicated, Lawson says parents will be advised of counseling services.

Lawson adds his department is NOT interested in the test results. However, he says the department will investigate where the drugs came from if requested by parents.
