(May City)– The population of tiny May City swelled exponentially Wednesday evening as some 2,500 people turned out for a concert put on by hometown girl Shawn Mayer.
Mayer, one of four finalists on NBC’s “Nashville Star” program, has become an instant celebrity and has put May City, a tiny town in eastern Osceola county, on the map. Media representatives from throughout the region and even national outlets were on hand.
Mayer performed about an hour on Main Street in front of the May City fire station.
Crews from Nashville Star were also on hand shooting highlights of Wednesday night’s concert. The footage will air on this coming Monday evening’s edition of Nashville Star.
