HAPI, Inc. Announces Plans For Band Shell At Preservation Plaza

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– Officials with Historic Arnolds Park, Incorporated have announced plans to build a band shell in Preservation Plaza.

Andrea Waitt Carlson and her foundation, Messenger of the Healing Winds, contributed 500-thousand dollars for the project during the 1999 “Save The Park” campaign. In December, 2005 the foundation donated an additional 500-thousand dollars to Historic Arnolds Park, Incorporated in exchange for a conservation easement that guarantees perpetual protection of the green space area.

Matt Barstad of Cannon, Moss and Bryger Associates of Spencer designed the structure. It will feature a glass back wall with picturesque views of West Lake Okoboji, nautical elements, native field stone and shake shingles.

Construction will begin in September, 2009 and is expected to be completed by the spring of 2010.
